Libertytown Mansion
Libertytown, Maryland
July 2009
This is among my favorite architectural masterpieces. It is quite a large structure.
There is an extension behind the left side of the house about as deep as the width
of
the front.
That extension seems to be part of the original construction. Sadly, I've watched
this gem deteriorate over the past 15 years to it's current state of abandonment.
The roof was replaced a couple of years ago, offering protection to the interior,
but much of what was the house's character has been removed, such as
many of the shutters.
My hope is that someone other than a so-called developer takes charge of restoring
this monument to our nation's history before it is too late.
