Temple of Justice
Washington state’s supreme court building
March
Olympia, Washington
Text reads:
“The mission of the
Washington
Supreme Court is to
protect the liberties
guaranteed by the
constitution and
laws of the state of
Washington and
the United States;
impartially uphold
and interpret the law;
and provide
open, just, and timely resolution
of all matters.
As the highest
level of court in
Washington State, we also strive to provide
open
access to our proceedings. As a court, we travel
several
times a year to hear cases in local
jurisdictions across
Washington.
In 1995, we also became one of the first courts
in the world to allow gavel-to-gavel coverage of
all our
cases,
which are televised year-round on
TVW, Washington
State's
Public Affairs Network.
This is one of the many ways
we
connect directly
with the public, and we hope it provides an
easy
way for you to learn more about your judicial
system.
On behalf of the nine justices on our
court, we welcome
you to see the Washington
Supreme Court up close
and in action.”
Sincerely,
Barbara A. Madsen
Chief Justice
